It’s about nine-odd hours until the start of my job training this week, but since I’m wide awake I think I’ll try to make the most of the time before the inevitable one-hour nap prior to getting prepped for work. The thing is, what will I do first? The most logical thing of course is to focus on the Fiction Writing Techniques assignment, but it’s a little intimidating for me. The gist of it is I need to write a two-page vignette on a visit to a place familiar to myself, but viewed through the eyes of someone who’s never been to a similar place before. It’s kind of like a fish-out-of-water story so to speak, but with the additional caveat that, again, I can’t use adverbs or adjectives. Yikes.
There’s also my other subject to worry about, especially since the conceptualization process for the journal we’re supposed to be working on is going oh-so slowly.
Ah heck, might as well get it out of the way. I’ll probably be too tired to even look at a manuscript by the middle of the week, since that’s when the real segment of the job training is supposed to begin.
