After everything that’s happened, I think I can say that today wasn’t like my usual Tuesday.
First off it was raining when I left for work this morning. Okay, it’s the monsoon season, so rain shouldn’t have been too surprising, but as far as I knew there weren’t any reported typhoons heading into the country (and I was right, but it was close enough, with a low-pressure area passing by Southern Luzon and brushing against the capital). Also it’s been raining nonstop since early morning (and I should know, as it started pouring just as I was about to turn in), which made for a lot of wet streets with the occasional flooded sidewalks to navigate come morning.
Okay, so it was raining. No big deal — I put on my jacket and hat, and started on my way. Unfortunately, the rain seemed to have brought vehicular traffic to a crawl, and what’s worse, something happened to put a temporary stop to the MRT services, at least for the rest of the morning (which I only learned after standing in line with countless other people for the good part of twenty minutes). So I was forced to commute by bus again to where our office was… except each bus was crammed chock-full of people, like one of those old-style sardine cans.
Ugh, that wasn’t really pleasant, let me tell you.
So this meant that I was more than an hour late for my shift. And when I get there, what do I find? My system profile still isn’t fixed, which meant while I was still required to log in, I wasn’t technically going to be able to do anything while at the office… Which normally would be a good thing, except for the fact that there was nothing to do there (aside from sleep of course). And this time around, despite the fact that I didn’t have any system to begin with (and as such couldn’t take in calls), they still wouldn’t let me off early.
This meant that, yeah, I spent about six hours at the office not doing any actual work.
It was still raining a bit when I got home, which meant that the afternoon was cool enough to take a nice nap… Which I did.
So I got paid for doing nothing (aside form getting wet to and from work), and technically spent the day napping both at home and at the office. Why aren’t my days always like this?
