Weekend Wind-down

July 6, 2012

I didn’t really do much today, aside from tracking down online copies of the books on my review list for the comprehensive examination.  It’s becoming quite clear that I can’t completely rely on the library for the non-local stuff, and I can’t buy the books I need and have them arrive when I actually need them.  So it was to the net I went, to look for all the PDFs I can track down.  It’s harder than it seems, but at least I’m getting results.  Whether I’d be able to actually read the books is another matter entirely, as eyestrain during prolonged reading (I am going to be staring at the monitor after all) is always going to be a problem, never mind setting aside a good chunk of my day to actually do so.

Aside from that, I was able to go to the gym again, where I once again managed to avoid getting rained on to and from the place.  That’s got to be a personal achievement of sorts.

Tomorrow it’s off to school again to read in the Filipiniana section.  Because, y’know, I can’t borrow or take home any books anymore.  Really, who thought it was a good idea to make it so that resident students can’t even borrow the books that they need to finish their courses?
