It’s just another of those rare Sundays where, surprise, my work shift was neither frustrating nor overly stressful. I’m once again thankful that most of the team was present today, given the awful call volumes one would expect during Saturdays in the US. Mind, it wasn’t exactly relaxing, and the internet-use embargo is still in full force, but at least I didn’t come home feeling burnt out.
I took another walk again (after my usual siesta), but I can’t really say I fared much better once I got to the Ayala Triangle. This time around I wasn’t even able to finish a single circuit, as my right leg started to cramp barely a minute into my jog. This, despite me doing some stretching beforehand. Urgh. And this was on top of the tightness of my chest that manifested itself as I turned the corner to Ayala Avenue. I’m seriously thinking that I won’t be able to start jogging like I used to until after I’ve shed some of those extra kilos I’ve accumulated over the last three or four months.
Well, I suppose it’s best to start small. It’s a bit of a change from what I’ve been used to, but I’ve started cutting down on my intake again. It’s kind of like how I was eating prior to my previous school term, except this time, as per 2DTeleidoscope’s suggestion, I’m filling out the lack of rice with… legumes. I think I was lucky this morning when I found a can of mixed beans and vegetables included in the canned tuna and salmon that my mom sent the last she had a box delivered. It was just a single can though, so I’m going to have to make up for it by buying some of my own. I think it’s fortunate that the local grocery store had some canned beans (of various types) stocked, and they were relatively cheap too, which is a good thing since I’m supposed to stretch the leftover 1000 PHP from the last payday up to the next payday (the 25th). Mission impossible? I think so too.
Also one of the issues I’m going to have to face with this new/old diet, cravings for rice and bread aside, is the fact that there’s only so many ways one can prepare beans. Especially green peas. Oh well. I’m in this for the long run, so it’s just something I’m going to have to get used to. I mean, I used to eat just bananas for lunch while I was working at ETrade, so this shouldn’t be too hard… Right?
