Progress Reporting: Start of the Week

March 19, 2012

Progress: Minimal.  Barely got anything done as usual, and I fell asleep as soon as I got back home (from the gym and a detour to the dentist).  Hammered out a few paragraphs, but that’s it.  Disappointing.  Have to do better, as another deadline is looming at the end of the week.

Progress For A Change

February 10, 2012

It’s kind of last minute, but hey, at least it’s six pages done. Formatting aside, that means that if I do at least eight pages, then I’m within the quota needed for the critique tomorrow. Yes!  That said, it took the complete shutdown of my desktop PC, and a relocation to my laptop to do so, but at least it could be done.

Incidentally it’s my payday yet again.  I took the opportunity to once again deduct from my credit card bill, as well as pay for my gym’s monthly membership fee.  I have to say, I’m getting a whole lot of mileage out of it (since I go every weekday), ahaha.  Now if I could just continue this until my sister’s wedding on April 13 (the stuff I do to fit into a dress)… March’s going to be hard, what with final submissions and all, but  think it still could be done.

Anyway, I have to get back to the rewrite. Barring any other distractions, this should be done before the stream for this week’s Last Exile: Fam airs at two in the morning.  Let’s see how far I can go.

A Bit More To Go

January 30, 2012

And with this, I’m just this bit closer to completing this phase of the coloring process.  At this point there are just three more magical girls (those with color schemes anyway) plus the Incubators left without base colors, and if I push it a bit (and not get distracted by other things) I should be done with them by tomorrow evening.  Not that it means that my troubles are over, since that leaves the girls without any official color schemes still uncompleted.  Mmph, at this rate I might just have to go with fan interpretations, or maybe just bring up the color wheel and fill up the gaps using the thus-far unused colors there.  We’ll just have to see, I suppose.

It was another routine Monday at the office, which means it was very laid back and relaxed due to the large gaps in between calls, especially during the second half of the shift.  I took advantage of the avail time in my own way (by reading through the latest chapter of To The Stars), though some of my teammates, those whose batch I was part of I mean, apparently were planning yet another overnight trip somewhere.  How they manage to do so with the salary we have boggles the mind, really.

Did another routine workout this afternoon, despite my father’s expected grumbling about it.  I was kind of worried about when I was supposed to pay for the monthly membership fee, but in my case it’s still a while away; since I started on the 10th of January, obviously I’ll only have to pay come the 10th of February, which is not only two-odd weeks away, but also the first payday of the month, hmm.

Anyway, my target for this week is to lose at least a pound.  Let’s see how things go, hmm?

Midweek Shuffle

August 24, 2011

It’s Wednesday again, but after all those nights I’m this close to formally finishing my translation project. All that’s missing are the footnotes for the actual translated text — that’ll take some work, but probably won’t take a whole evening — and the bibliography/references.  After that, I can just email the thing to my professor, and spend the weekend no longer having to worry about it constantly. Finally.

Now if I can only forget that my submission probably won’t hold a candle to some of my classmates’ projects, and I’ll be good for a while.

Speaking of good… My shift today was uncharacteristically relaxed. Instead of being swamped by calls as usual, there were huge intervals in between calls, but that was easily explained by the fact that we have new hires on the floor.  I’m guessing that, as they’re technically in their nesting period (and as such under active surveillance), they were given a higher priority on the call queue.  That said, the fact that I was able to take in calls at a leisurely pace really helped, as far as my temper is concerned that is.

Might as well enjoy things while they last though. Experience tells me that it’ll back to the usual next week, but with the added warm bodies on the floor for the morning shift, at least the tail end of my workweek will become somewhat bearable again.

Breather

August 20, 2011

Despite my initial intent, today had turned into my ‘cheat day’ as far as my project and exercise regimen was concerned. Yes, this meant that I wasn’t counting calories today, and didn’t even bat an eye as I wolfed down on sweets. I did plan on jogging of course, but I literally had to put a raincheck on that since the area around Ayala experienced a long and wet afternoon. Mmph. It looks like I’m really going to have to find an alternative to my usual jog whenever I’m rained in.

Usually I rely on skipping rope or jumping jacks for my cardio whenever I’m stuck at home, but since my room is on the second floor, well, needless to say I’m bothering the other people in our house, never mind causing all the stuff in my room that are on shelves and elevated surfaces to fall from their perches. So, looking for a workout circuit that doesn’t involve jumping around would be imperative.

Finally decided on adding a few more shelves for my ever-expanding pile of books. I bought two thirty-inch planks, and I was this close to having them installed once I got back from the nearby hardware store… only to find out that the extra brackets we were supposed to place the planks on were nowhere to be found. Oi. That means the shelves will have to wait for tomorrow, but since it’s my last day off, I won’t be able to focus on it at all.

Definitely not in any of my plans. Hmph. Oh well, change and adapt as usual.

Blind Foolishness

August 18, 2011

Project report: doing better than expected. If I really push it, I can probably finish this by tomorrow evening. That said, I think I spoke too hastily when I said that it wouldn’t be obvious how this story was actually set in England. Kind of hard to ignore the reference to BBC. That said, it doesn’t have that overwhelming English narrative voice, which is a plus I suppose.

Will see if I can get more things done before I turn in by midnight.

Status Report: March 25

March 25, 2011

Hmm.  I really wanted to go faster, but some progress is better than no progress at all.  Depending on how it goes for the rest of the evening, I might be able to start on the other draft tomorrow.  That’s something to be happy for, I think.

But, my, is the draft shorter this time around.  I guess that’s what happens when you separate the chaff.  Ah well.  Better continue, I need to get this to the people who’re supposed to proofread it for me.

Status Update: March 24

March 24, 2011

*sigh* Sometimes I really have to wonder sometimes if my own body is conspiring against me. I’m just feeling unbelievably tired… Which is strange since I pretty much slept properly last night, and had a good long afternoon nap.  Maybe I’m sleeping too much to compensate?  Wouldn’t be surprised at all.

I have the whole of Friday tomorrow. Hopefully I can get something done.

Status Report: March 22

March 22, 2011

Whenever I make very short posts, it means I’m either stressed out of my mind, very busy, or both.  In this case, I’ve been terribly busy.  And yes, this is connected to my Fiction Workshop class.

I mentioned that this rewrite was going to be an uphill climb all the way.  Boy, is it.  Makes me wish I could go on leave for a week and head off to a cave somewhere so I ca focus my complete attention on it.

Sadly that won’t happen. Oh well, I’ll just have to do with stimuli deprivation instead. So no anime and whatnot.

God, these two weeks will suck. A lot.
